Spectacular California

Spectacular California.
We stayed at the Resort at Squaw Creek, a high-end but reasonably priced resort hotel comprised of 238 condo units of various sizes. These totally upgraded accommodations have more the feeling of a vacation home than a hotel room.

We can attest to the upgrades and luxury condo feel - amenities like flat screen televisions and fireplaces are included along with fully furnished modern kitchens with granite counter-tops. Our condo was stylishly decorated in brown and beige tones with everything in it brand new. And, like many of the units at the resort, ours included a stunning view of the mountains that are part of the Squaw Valley ski area.

Latest twist in builder incentives is guaranteed equity

Latest twist in builder incentives is guaranteed equity.
The Cousins Assurance Program guarantees the equity in a buyer”s condo for the first three years of ownership. Cousins will finance the condo with an initial down payment of 5% and interest rate of 4%.

Buyers who need to sell their current home can move in to the condo right away with a 20% down payment and no mortgage payments for a year while they sell their existing home.

Unlike a lease-to-own program, the Cousins program allows homeowners to take full tax advantage of ownership from the beginning.

While it has become commonplace for developers to place a block of unsold condos up for auction or to drastically reduce prices, Cousins has resisted both approaches – which bring down the overall value of the condominium.

‘Simply discounting the product doesn’t help,’ Cousins CEO Tom Bell said.more

Conservancy HQ to bear Efroymson name

Conservancy HQ to bear Efroymson name.
The building will take up about half a block between Easley Winery and the new six-story Maxwell condo and retail project, and should be finished early next year, McConnell said.

It will be built on property the Conservancy purchased from Nemec Heating & Supply Co., which occupied a building the organization has torn down.

Bricks from the warehouse have been recycled and will be used in the new construction. Wood will be taken from forests within the state grown for sustainable harvesting.

Indianapolis-based Axis Architecture Interiors LLC designed the energy-efficient headquarters, which will feature a ‘green’ roof and a pervious parking lot to prevent storm-water runoff. Rainwater will be captured by a cistern.

The Conservancy is aiming for the highest level of LEED certification.more
